It was a rain soaked match against the Chicago Red Stars Reserves Friday night for the Green Bay Glory in their fourth WPSL match of the season. Once the clouds broke, the Red Stars emerged with a hard fought 2-0 win, but not without an incredible effort from the Glory.
McKenzie August nearly scored for the Glory just 18 seconds into the match and would set the tone for the remaining 89 minutes of play.
Chicago found an early goal as a bouncing ball touch a deflection of a Glory player in the box and just rolled past goalkeeper Sara Klimischâs outstretched hand.
Klimisch would go on to make several incredible saves throughout the night, keeping the score locked at 1-0 until the dying minutes of the match.
In the 91st minute, Chicagoâs Patricia George picked out Emily Hess who played a slick back heel pass to Madison Alexander on the back post who got the slightest of touches on the pass to redirect it into the goal.
The match provided electric action all evening and Green Bay even had Chicago on their heels for a majority of the first half.
Chicago heads down to Milwaukee for their next match in WPSL play while the Glory welcome FC Pride on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
